Why is it called the "Hacker Classic?"

"Hacker" is a slang golf term - it means a poor golfer.  While we do have some great golfers that play, most of our supporters are out there to have fun - not go pro.

How long does the tournament last?

It's typically 5 hours, including dinner.

What if I don't have golf clubs?

The club has both left and right handed clubs available to borrow.

Is the tournament open to non-school members?

Yes! We welcome all. We have a lot of non-school players every year.

If I don't play can I still sponsor?

Yes.

What is a "scramble?"

Scramble is a golf term which means "all players start at the same time" - this is accomplished by having each team tee off at a different hole as their "1st" hole - from 1 all the way to 18. In this manner the team teeing off on hole 18 plays it first, and plays hole 1 second and so on. That way everyone finishes at about the same time.

What is the "closest to the pin" contest?

This could also be called "closest to the cup" - the ball closest to the flag/cup/pin wins. It's a one hit contest played on the shortest hole of the course (so the green is reachable with one stroke)

Which holes are in the closest to the pin contest? How do I know?

There are four holes, and they are clearly marked on the green.

Will lunch be served?

Yes! We serve sandwiches and refreshments before the game, and have refreshments throughout the game. At the end of the tournament there is a catered meal and awards.

Is my information shared with anyone else?

No. When you sign up for the Hacker's Classic to support Clearwater Academy your information is kept private. It's not shared or distributed to any other organizations or people for any purpose. Additionally, those that aren't personally involved in the school who choose to play in the tournament are viewed as Hacker's Classic folks - not general Clearwater Academy folk and their information stays within the Hacker's Classic ecosystem.
